My name is Amanda Ernewein. I am a forth year midwifery student at Mount Royal University in Calgary. Previous to my studies, I worked as a birth doula for 2 years. I am passionate about birth and empowering women to have positive birthing experiences, regardless of what form that might take.
I am originally from Rocky Mountain House and am currently living in Calgary with my partner and daughter of 11. Being a mother and a midwifery student have taught me the importance of pregnancy, birth and postpartum and the impacts it has on one’s overall wellbeing. I am passionate about community and strongly believe that healthy communities start with healthy births. I am continuously humbled by birth and feel honored to be able to serve birthing persons.
I am an outdoor enthusiast and enjoy all activities outside, with a particular bias toward mountain biking. I also enjoy cooking, gardening, canning, knitting and spending time with my family.
I feel very honoured to have the opportunity to work with Caroline, Ali and Kimberley and the clients at Aurora Midwifery for the next 7 months. I look forward to my placement at Aurora and am excited for the experiences and challenges it presents.
