My name is Aneke Mendarozqueta, I am a Canadian/Mexican midwifery student from Manitoba. I initially became interested in midwifery when my sister had her second pregnancy with a midwife. The care she received was so personalized and so deeply supportive that I felt an internal pull to investigate further. The more I read about midwifery, the more I realized this was my life’s path.
Before starting the midwifery program at Mount Royal, I completed a Bachelor of Honours in Geography from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick. In between my two degrees, I have enjoyed a wide assortment of jobs, from being a freelance dog trainer, working as a music festival organizer, to training birds of prey as a falconer.
By far my greatest adventure thus far has been the privilege and the honour to be on this midwifery journey. I am thrilled to be starting my first placement with Aurora! I look forward to learning and developing my skills as a health care professional.
