It was during my time at Wilfrid Laurier University while I was taking a Sociology degree that I first encountered midwifery as a profession. The passion that I encountered while further exploring midwifery in Ontario helped to reinforce my own growing enthusiasm in working with pregnant people through such a significant time in their lives. I graduated from McMaster University in the Midwifery Education Program (MEP) and am excited to be a midwife with Aurora Midwifery.

I grew up in Calgary, Alberta. I come from a large family, and have been surrounded by many people all my life. Being one of the youngest out of my thirty cousins meant I was frequently watching the women in my life through their childbearing years while growing up. I’ve always been interested in medicine, and I feel that midwifery is one of the few health professions where we deal exclusively in life and health, in what is natural and normal. Through the cores beliefs of continuity of care and empowering people to make informed choices about their care and choice of birthplace, midwifery helps to support and encourage pregnancy and childbirth as a natural and normal process. I feel honoured to help people through this momentous occasion in their personal and familial lives. I was lucky enough to welcome my own twin girls into the world in 2016, and the experience left me with a better understanding of how to support pregnant people throughout their pregnancy and birth.

Throughout my midwifery training I had the privilege of working in many different areas and fields, including with a lactation consultant, with nursing staff on a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a Labour and Delivery ward, with obstetrics, and with the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) doing afterbirth care. I was fortunate enough to do an elective placement overseas with midwives in New Zealand and the experience I had there with cultures different from my own was invaluable. I’ve had the distinct pleasure of being involved in over five hundred new lives coming into the world, and look forward to many more over the coming years. I’m honoured to be able to work with you and support you through your pregnancy and early parenting.
