Krista Turner

My name is Krista Turner, and I am in my fourth year of the midwifery program at Mount Royal University. I am a mom to a bright, busy, wonderful boy, and have been blessed to have him in my life. I had never imagined that my experience with pregnancy and birth would extend beyond that of my own, until I witnessed the incredible home birth of a dear friend of mine. While I had great care during my own pregnancy and birth with a family doctor, my eyes had been opened to the supportive, informative, evidence-based care that midwives provide. The idea of assisting women to make autonomous choices during their pregnancy, birth and postpartum was so inviting. As I researched midwifery in Canada and around the world, it quickly became evident that I had a yearning to support women throughout their birthing experiences.

I am incredibly privileged to be given the opportunity to be a part of such an intimate and transformative time in women’s lives through Mount Royal University’s Midwifery program. I look forward to all the knowledge and experience I will gain from the midwives at Aurora Midwifery, and am beyond excited to work with women and their families throughout their pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. I am grateful for the women who allow me to be a part of their journey so that I may gain crucial experience on my own path to becoming a midwife.
